After adding Novus AI to your Discord server, the next step is to configure how Novus AI will operate within your community.
Each Discord server connected to Novus AI has its own configuration. This means you can customize each server independently without affecting your other connected servers.
Step 1: Open My Discord Servers
Sign in to your Novus AI account and open My Discord Servers.
Find the server you recently added to Novus AI.
Select Configure to open the configuration for that server.
Step 2: Check Your Server Connection
Before configuring other features, make sure Novus AI is successfully installed and connected to your Discord server.
If the server appears in your server list but Novus AI is no longer present in Discord, you may need to install the bot again.
Also make sure the Novus AI bot role has the required permissions.
Step 3: Review Your Server Configuration
Open the server configuration and review the available settings.
Your server configuration acts as the central location for managing how Novus AI works within that specific Discord community.
Depending on the features available to your account, you may be able to configure:
AI settings
AI provider
Knowledge Base
AI routing
Discord channels
Response behavior
Moderation
Auto Translation
Other server-specific features
You do not need to configure every feature immediately.
Start with the features required for your AI assistant and add additional functionality when needed.
Step 4: Prepare Your Discord Channels
Decide which Discord channels Novus AI will use.
For example, you may want dedicated channels for:
General support
Frequently asked questions
Technical assistance
Community assistance
Other AI-supported conversations
Your actual channel structure depends on how your Discord community is organized.
Make sure Novus AI can view and send messages in every channel where you plan to use it.
Step 5: Decide How Novus AI Should Respond
Before creating detailed AI instructions, decide how members should interact with your assistant.
Depending on your available configuration, Novus AI can be configured to respond only under specific conditions.
For example, you may prefer the bot to respond only when directly mentioned rather than responding to every conversation in a channel.
Choose a behavior that fits how your community uses Discord.
Step 6: Prepare Your Server Information
Novus AI becomes more useful when it has accurate information about your community.
Before building your Knowledge Base, prepare the information that members commonly ask about.
This may include:
Frequently asked questions
Server information
Rules and policies
Guides
Services
Procedures
Troubleshooting instructions
Community-specific information
You can organize this information later inside your Knowledge Base and AI routes.
Step 7: Save Your Configuration
After changing your server settings, make sure your configuration is saved.
Some changes may affect how Novus AI responds immediately, so it is recommended to test the bot after making important configuration changes.
Each Server Is Independent
If you manage multiple Discord servers, remember that each server can have its own Novus AI configuration.
For example, one server can have different:
AI instructions
Knowledge Base content
Routes
Discord channels
Moderation settings
Translation configuration
Changes made to one server should only apply to that server unless a feature specifically states otherwise.
Your Server Is Ready for AI Configuration
Once your Discord server is connected, permissions are correct, and the basic server configuration is ready, you can begin configuring the AI that will assist your members.
